Men’s Ministry – “Band of Brothers”

“The glory of God is man fully alive.” (Irenaeus, early Church Father)

The FPC men’s ministry is called “Band of Brothers.” We have borrowed the name from the true story of Easy Company of the U.S. 101st Airborne Division in World War 2. Easy Company was a group of men who joined together on a mission to rescue people under tyranny. Their heroic efforts changed history.

We believe this is an appropriate name as the Bible portrays the gospel as Jesus’ mission behind enemy lines (think of “Saving Private Ryan”). In fact, the gospel of the Kingdom of God is God’s rescue and restoration mission in Jesus Christ. Jesus came to rescue us from the power of sin and Satan and restore God’s image fully in our hearts again. Jesus offers us freedom and LIFE.

Men’s ministry exists to come alongside men to help them learn from Jesus how to live in God’s Kingdom. Men have both the awesome privilege and responsibility of leading ourselves and our families to follow Jesus Christ. Yet most of us have not grown up learning how to do this. Thus, we need to learn together in a “band of brothers.” We desire to equip men to be faithful followers (think “apprentices”) through practical bible studies, connecting well with other men in grace-centered relationships, and various experiences of all kinds.

Ultimately, we desire to see men have their hearts rescued and restored so that they come fully alive to God and find their deepest joy, significance and purpose in God’s Kingdom.

Bible on Tap: Bible On Tap is a ministry for men that meets at the Pitcher’s Brewery on 11th Ave. and 25th St. on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of every month at 7:30pm. Each week men discuss Bible topics over a pint of cold beer, ice water, or pop. It’s fun, it’s engaging and it is good to hang out with other men and discuss views concerning our immortal lives.

Car Care: About every quarter, some of the men in the church offer free, simple maintenance to either college students, or single moms. It is a great way to use your talents for the glory of God.

Other Activities: Keep your ears and eyes open. The men routinely help out with a Habitat house, or paint someone’s home, or do needed work around the church. At least a couple of times a year, the men will go to a sporting event or do some crazy activity such as paintball. Usually in the fall, the men will schedule their men’s Retreat which typically runs from a Friday night through Sunday noon.

Men’s Fraternity:
